What spaces can I list as storage?
Got an empty closet? A basement or an attic? An indoor shed in the garden? A private garage? You can list any available space that you don't fill up completely. Just remember to share as much detail as you can. Who has access to the space? Is the area locked? Will people pass by frequently?

Who can become a Host?
Any adult age 18 and above can host any space you own or rent! BuurBox does not check contracts nor do we provide legal advise. Please make sure this is allowed for space you own or are renting. If you are renting temporarily, please remember to add any contract end dates when you list your storage space to set expectations with potential storage renters.

Who can access my storage space?
When you create a listing, you define the type of access you give to renters. Our recommendaton is for you to always be present when renters access their items and do not provide renters with their own keys if this is a shared space, but you are free to provide independent access as desired. You can define your general availability to give access, such as how often the renter can access the storage space, and how early you need to be informed of a visit by the renter. Always check if you are allowed to give building access to 3rd parties in a shared building. Remember to inform your renters in case you are planning to go on holiday, and always plan a back-up in case the renter needs to access their items while you are out.

How do I list my storage space?
Fill out all the necessary information in the form: www.buurbox.nl/create-listing and click "Submit". On this form, you will provide details about your space, your preferred availability and your pricing. You can choose to rent out your whole space to 1 renter, or you can charge per item/box stored. Once submitted, we will review your listing and reply within the week for any additional questions. We will let you know by email when your listing becomes active for booking. Additional tips on how to fill out some of the questions: - Address: In case your address and the address of the storage is not the same, please input the storage address and let us know your address in the Comments for your free gift! - Estimated storage size: In case you're not sure how much space your storage space has, give us your best estimate and send us an email of as many photos of the space as you can for our reference. When someone books your space, we will always share the list and photos of the items to be stored so you can confirm if they fit. - Monthly storage fee: This is the storage fee you want to receive every month for your services. BuurBox service fees and our payment provider's transaction fees will be deducted further from this amount.

Bookings and activity
Once your host account and listing is approved and activated, we will start looking for a renter on your behalf. We do not provide any of your personal information at this period for your privacy. We provide only the information about the storage space and proximity to the renter's address. When a renter wants to book your space, we will confirm this with you by email or other contacts you provided. You need to send a response, whether you are interested or not, within 72 hours otherwise we will mark your listing as "Inactive". When your listing is "Inactive", we will no longer actively look for renters on your behalf. Once you and the renter confirm interest, we will create a subscription payment for the renter but they will not be charged until the date they move-in their items to your storage. Once they make the payment, we will exchange your details for coordination. Check the next section on "Meet-up and drop-off" for the next step.

Meet-up and drop off
Once you accept a booking, we will provide your address and contact information to the renter so that you can coordinate to meet-up physically for renters to drop off their items at your storage. It is also possible that you or the renter want to meet-up prior to the drop-off date when renters leave their items at your space. During the drop-off, you must inspect the items to make sure there are no prohibited items that can cause damage to you or your space such as flammables, toxins, food, or living things. Take photos and send them to help@buurbox.nl with the booking number to avoid disputes later on. We recommend that you fully let the renter handle the transport and drop off of their items to prevent liability to damages. To fully maximize the storage space, you may ask the renter to stack their items within reasonable limits. In case there are changes to the items that were dropped off to your storage, call or send an email to help@buurbox.nl by 17:00 on the day of the drop off with the renter's email in copy for an increase or decrease of the monthly storage fee. Ensure you have discussed this with the renter prior to sending the email to avoid disputes.

Payout verification
When you get your 1st booking, BuurBox will send you a Stripe account creation link. We use Stripe as our payment service provider so that we can safely transfer renter payments to your bank account. In compliance with local regulations, Stripe will require some personal information such as your BSN to confirm your identity. Know that BuurBox does NOT store or have visibility to this information, and that this information is kept securely only between you and Stripe. You can view the Stripe privacy policy here: https://stripe.com/en-nl/privacy Fill out your personal details and make sure that the email you use is the same email you have inputted on the Listing form. For majority of our renters on BuurBox, you can fill out the below fields as: - Type of business: “Natuurlijke persoon” if you are a private individual (and not a Business entity) - Industry: Personal services - other personal services - Your website: your Host public profile URL or "www.buurbox.nl".

Payout schedule
Once the subscription starts and you have created your Stripe account from BuurBox, your payouts will be triggered automatically every 1 week after the end of the monthly subscription period. For example, if the booking started on May 16 then the end of the monthly period is June 15 and your payout will be triggered on June 22. Depending on Stripe, you should see the payout in your bank account within 7 days after being triggered. If you have multiple bookings, you will receive multiple payouts based on the end of their individual booking periods.

Payout fees
Your payout is the monthly storage fee you priced on the listing, deducted by service fees and processing fees. We do not deduct tax from your payouts on your behalf. Please consult your accountant or tax advisor for questions on tax filing for your particular case. Standard BuurBox service fees are 8%. This is reduced to only 6% if you are a Super Host! Super Hosts have at least an average recurring booking of €334/ month for the past 12 months and exhibit good behavior within our host guidelines. Stripe fees are €2 once a month plus 0.25% and €0.10 per payout transaction. So if you, for example, receive a payout for

Insurance and damages
BuurBox is unfortunately not yet able to provide insurance at this moment, however we highly recommend you to purchase one as there are many insurance providers that are affordable. Hosts are NOT responsible for lost or stolen property as long as a police report is filed and evidence suggests the same. To avoid disputes, take photos of the original state of the items received and send them by email to help@buurbox.nl.
